When you first start training, you will begin as a 10th Gup, wearing a white belt. Every few months, there will be grading where you may grade for your next belt. The levels from white belt to black belt are below:
At each level, you will learn new techniques and improve on the techniques learned for earlier belts.
In case you wonder why the belts are coloured as they are, the colours are those used in the Taegeuk, which is similar to the Chinese Yin & Yang. The colours represent:
- Yellow: Humanity
- Blue: Heaven
- Red: Earth
